“Activate the interior design and furniture system to achieve safe housing from earthquakes”

Abstract

Based on the importance of achieving a safe environment at home from the dangers of earthquakes, which in turn occur suddenly, so, the house had to be equipped with an interior design system and furniture equipped for this purpose in terms of securing the human within that system. By fulfilling the requirements of security and safety from earthquakes which were divided into: requirements for human behavior during an earthquake, and direction to the safest places, such as entrances, load-bearing supports, solid furniture, in addition to referring to the survival triangle. As for the most dangerous places in the house: like standing in the middle of the room, or standing next to a heavy piece of furniture and stand by windows and electrical appliances. Requirements for interior design elements such as increasing the empty spaces in the corridors for ease of escape, removing the bed from the bottom of the window to avoid falling glass, and not hanging anything heavy that might cause harm by falling over. Relying on sliding doors and windows, and special requirements for furniture design, the method and place of its placement, as well as the methods and means of fixation and the materials made from it, and using locks for all kind of cabinets, and relying on built-in cabinets is the best option to avoid the dangerous of their fall.
