Creativity in Mural Design Inspired by Heritage: Between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence

Research Abstract

The differences between human creativity and artificial intelligence creativity are numerous and varied. However, both possess unique advantages that can be leveraged and integrated to achieve creative outcomes. This research examines the integration of the rich elements of heritage with the immense capabilities offered by both artificial intelligence and human intelligence in mural design. Heritage is a significant formative language that expresses civilizations and their authenticity derived from the local and societal environment

Artificial intelligence enables artists and designers to explore new horizons of creativity by analyzing vast amounts of data related to heritage (such as motifs, colors, stories, symbols) and extracting new patterns and relationships that a human designer might not easily notice. It can also suggest novel artistic compositions and generate unconventional forms inspired by heritage, thus opening the door to unprecedented mural designs. Furthermore, artificial intelligence can adapt mural designs to suit specific contexts or personal preferences, while preserving the essence of the heritage inspiration.

While the role of the human artist remains fundamental in guiding the design process and imbuing the murals with a creative touch and artistic spirit, the integration of artificial intelligence and human intelligence in designing heritage-inspired murals contributes to revitalizing heritage in contemporary ways and presenting it to new generations in engaging and modern styles, thereby enhancing awareness of history and identity.
