Abstract

Research Summary:

Various social media platforms and smartphone applications have provided new digital channels for news access. With the spread of non-specialized news platforms and the influx of fake news, investigating and verifying the accuracy of information has become one of the digital reader's main concerns. This drives them to follow trustworthy platforms, particularly through news smartphone applications, which have become more popular, accepted, and reliable. Various press institutions and news websites have recognized the importance of these applications, intensifying competition to attract and retain the largest number of readers. This has led to their interest in enhancing user experience elements for their news applications as a means of enhancing the added value of news reliability through an effective user experience.

The research has highlighted the problem of the need for a specific strategy as a scientific methodology for building the design of Egyptian news smartphone applications according to standards that achieve functional aspects and user convenience, ensuring the presence of an effective user experience. This is achieved by improving the user experience elements for these applications, enhancing their added value, and increasing the reliability of the news they publish.

The research aimed to develop a strategy for designing an effective user experience for news smartphone applications that achieves functional aspects and usability. This strategy was implemented by redesigning the user experience of a smart phone application for an Egyptian newspaper.
