Abstract

Advertising campaigns are a powerful tool for shaping public opinion and changing societal behaviors for the better. The electricity consumption awareness campaign in Egypt, led by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, emphasizes the importance of efficient electricity use to reduce waste and promote sustainable development. The campaign aims to educate citizens on the importance of energy conservation through various means such as television advertisements, billboards and social media.

The goals of the campaign include raising awareness on how to conserve electricity, reducing overall consumption, and protecting the environment by lowering harmful emissions. Multiple strategies are employed to achieve these goals, including airing educational ads on TV, placing informative billboards in key areas, and leveraging social media to reach a wide audience. Additionally, the Ministry of Electricity organizes workshops and lectures in schools and universities to increase awareness and share best practices for electricity conservation.

The campaign has led to several positive impacts, including reducing electricity bills for individuals and lessening the financial burden on the state. Despite these successes, the campaign faces challenges such as resistance from some individuals to change their consumption habits, the need for technological upgrades in infrastructure, and securing continuous funding for the campaign.

The electricity consumption awareness campaign in Egypt serves as a prominent example of how media and public communication can achieve sustainable development goals. Through education and awareness, positive societal behavior changes can be realized, contributing to economic, environmental, and social benefits that are sustainable.
