Abstract

In recent decades, numerous concepts and trends have emerged towards participatory approaches, including participatory design and collaborative design. These methods position the end-user at the center of the design process. Participatory design offers a clear advantage over traditional design by involving individuals in creating and managing their requirements, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment. Unlike designer-focused approaches, participatory design encourages citizens to play an active role in decision-making. By engaging users as partners and consultants at every stage of the design process, participatory design ensures genuine interaction and influence over outcomes. This active participation enhances user satisfaction and strengthens their sense of community and shared goals.

Participatory design (PD) is a crucial tool in architecture, urban planning, and furniture design. It contributes to finding optimal solutions for designing and developing products that cater to users' needs, creating spaces they feel a sense of ownership and belonging to. User-centered design (UCD) is a multi-disciplinary process

the research problem lies in the over-reliance on the designer's subjectivity in identifying problems and solutions, which may lead to designing products that do not adequately meet users' needs.

Thus, the Aim of the research has become to achieve the highest functional efficiency in furniture design by meeting user needs and establishing a methodology for participatory design to create furniture suitable for all users. This goal is verified according to an inductive methodology and a descriptive analytical approach, focusing on three main axes
