Abstract

Theatrical lighting is considered an essential element in children's theater performances. It enriches the show and contributes to achieving the show's goals. The lighting design in children’s theater performances plays a major role in influencing the mood of children and is an element that attracts their attention.

Theatrical lighting is a process of art and technique. This is done through the creation of expressive lighting compositions that influence children. Beauty in theatrical lighting is achieved through the ability of the lighting designer to express the dramatic meanings in the theatrical text.

It also contributes to raising the level of children’s sensory perception through their continuous interaction with what is presented on stage. Theatrical performances for children are created by artistically embodying the text according to the dramatic events.

The lighting plan in children's theater performances is an artistic language that is achieved in a thoughtful manner gives a specific meaning or psychological state that contributes to creating the dramatic atmosphere and adds special appeal to each scene of the theatrical performance.

The lighting plan is the main driver for forming the integrated image of the show in front of the children and the success of the scene through its direct impact on the child’s emotions and feelings. It is an artistic process through which multiple changes are achieved according to the dramatic events on stage.
