Studying The Special Needs of the Blind in Designing Smart Homes

Abstract

The design of smart housing has become increasingly important recently with the continued advancement of technology. However, many smart housing designs do not take into account the needs of people with disabilities, including the blind, especially the blind child. This study addresses the special needs of the blind in designing the smart housing and identifies The challenges that the blind child faces in using the smart home and proposes design solutions to meet these challenges, starting with the definition of the family and the blind child, the internal spaces of the home for families with special needs (the blind child), the characteristics of the blind child, the study of his special needs, the interior design requirements for his movement within the space, and the requirements. And the design needs of the smart home, the spatial requirements and equipment, and the determinants of the internal space, and taking into account flexibility in the design of the internal spaces of the smart home for the blind child, especially in the changing requirements and living needs of him inside the smart home, as well as the interior design for healthy family members, which achieves a successful interior design.
