Abstract

Many people believe that hospitals and healthcare centers are the major cause of stress and recovery delayed, especially when patients are away from the natural environment for a long time. Nature is an effective method for psychological treatment, improving health, eliminating diseases, reducing stress and tension, Studies have recently proven that gardens and landscapes can affect the psychological aspect of the patient, and thus speed up the recovery process.

The problem of the research is determined by the negative impact of closed internal spaces in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals and treatment centers, on the patient’s health, while neglecting the effect of natural light and landscapes on improving the psychological health of the patient, While the importance of the research is to study the effect of using biophilic design strategies in the hospitals internal spaces to improve the patients psychological health and thus accelerating recovery, the research aim is determined by creating a direct relationship between interior design based on natural systems and increasing recovery rates. It also aims to clarify the impact of applying biophilic design on the hospital’s interior spaces on the patient’s organic, psychological, and cognitive functions, reducing the period of stay of patients in hospitals, and increasing recovery rates.

The research concludes that using natural elements such as natural daylight, green spaces, natural plant elements, and natural ventilation in designing the interior spaces of healthcare facilities and hospitals reduces stress and speeds up the recovery process for patients, and also leads to increase recovery rates.
