Abstract

The research deals with urban furniture as one of the components of the urban landscape of cities and its relationship to activities, movement and people in the urban space. This is done through four main axes: where the first axis presents the definition of urban furniture its classification and components, and criteria for the design of urban -furniture functional, environmental, ergonomic, aesthetic, technical, economic and etc.. - The second axis moves to the entrances to urban furniture design and its relationship to the formal construction of urban furniture,- Geometric Design, origami design, Tessellated Furniture (Repetition) Modularity, parametric design, organic design and sculptural design, while the third axis deals with a field study of garden furniture on the waterfront of Jazan city, specifically the northern Cornice, and evaluates its compatibility with the previous considerations addressed in the first axis by designing a model for analyzing and evaluating the elements of urban furniture in the northern Cornice The city of Jazan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. and finally in the fourth axis Applied The research presents a methodology for developing the urban landscape of the waterfront that was applied with the students of the graduation project, Faculty of Design, Architecture, Department of Applied Arts. The applied part relied on the different design approaches and the diversity of design sources and methods.
