The cover is a form of plastic arts presented as visual artwork, however it is a functional advertising product that serves a promotional purpose. The book cover is one of the most attractive elements for the reader. The art of book cover design is one of the tributaries of graphic design. It is an ancient art that transformed into print advertising inspired by books as early as the early 1900s. The printing technique of lithography, invented in 1798 by German playwright Alois Senefelder (1771: 1834) allowed artists to place illustrations within a print text frame, creating a dialogue between image and words . by the third millennium, the art of book making and book cover became a science being taught worldwide . Book covers depend mostly on computer design, in addition to hand drawing, photographs and graphics, making the book cover a complete standalone piece of art.

“Salome” by Oscar Wilde (1900:1854) was chosen to design covers of the play, which combined the art of literature and graphic art in shades of white, black and gray colours, with heavily textured formations, influenced by the technique of engraving art.
